Itinerary

Embark on the renowned Great Ocean Road journey in Victoria, an essential experience. Imagine a day when we guide you along this scenic coastal path, encompassing unspoiled beaches, lush rainforests, and striking limestone cliffs.

Marvel at the 12 Apostles – these eminent rock structures are just offshore of Victoria’s Port Campbell National Park. Immerse yourself in the allure of this natural landscape while our guides enchant you with tales and lore that have moulded this magnificent coastline.

As we depart from Melbourne, our route takes us to the Surf Coast, weaving through charming coastal villages like Anglesea, Lorne, and Airey’s Inlet. We pause en route for a morning refreshment, savouring the ocean breeze and observing surfers braving the waves. Discover why this region, close to Antarctica, is renowned for its surfing conditions and wetsuit necessity!

We halt at the Great Ocean Road monument, signifying the historical commencement of the Great Ocean Road. Capture memories at the famed Memorial Arch, learn about the soldiers who constructed this road in honour of their comrades, and continue through more breathtaking vistas (with photo stops, of course!)

Our excursion includes several breaks to scout for Koalas in their natural habitat along the Great Ocean Road. While sightings can’t be promised, our expert guides can lead you into the wilderness to spot these creatures in their slumber.

During the trip, a lunch break is provided in Apollo Bay, where guests can spend approximately 45 minutes at their own expense. Visitors can explore the town, purchase souvenirs, or indulge in delectable ice cream. Afterwards, the journey continues as we head inland to the Great Otway National Park.

Continuing on the Great Ocean Road, we drive into the scenic hills of the Great Otway National Park. We reach a Cool, Temperate Rainforest section by passing tall Eucalyptus trees. Walking amidst the tree ferns, we admire the ancient Myrtle Beach trees. These trees offer shade and originated in Australia, part of a supercontinent called Gondwanaland. Please take a deep breath of the fresh air before we proceed to the dramatic Shipwreck Coast.

After leaving the trees and returning to the Southern Ocean, we reach Port Campbell National Park, famous for its iconic 12 Apostles. There will be approximately 40 minutes allocated at the Apostles, allowing you ample time to appreciate the scenic views from various perspectives, explore the boardwalks, and capture stunning photos of this untamed and rugged coastline.

At the National Park, visitors can explore Loch Ard Gorge, famous for being the location of one of Australia’s well-known shipwrecks. They can also learn about the dramatic tale of Tom and Eva and venture to the beach to search for caves. Additionally, the area has rock formations like Island Archway, Razorback, and the ‘Salt and Pepper Shakers’.

After a complete day of exploration, we bid farewell the Great Ocean Road and headed back inland towards Melbourne via country roads. On the way, we passed through farmlands and arrived at the country town of Colac. If desired, guests can grab a quick dinner for themselves (at their own expense) before we reach Melbourne around 8:30 pm.
